| | Clean Install XP to 64 bit Vista Ultimate I have a Acer Ferrari 4000, the operating system it came with is Xp 32 bit. I have the Ultimate Vista both 32 bit and 64 bit, I wanted to do a clean install of the Vista 64 bit but I am having a problem. When I insert the Vista 64 bit disc it says, "Setup can not run on this version of the Operating System. To install Windows please try booting from the install media." How can I install the 64 bit Vista? |

Also When I got this labtop it didn't come with a Windows XP CD do I need one to do clean install of Vista Ultimate 64 bit? How can I install the 64 bit Vista? Sorry but your reply is unclear. If you have Ultimate in x86 and x64 versions they are each on their own DVD, so what do you mean that you don't believe you have the Windows Vista DVD? The installation of x64 Vista is started by booting from the Vista x64 DVD. There is only one way to install it, as a clean install. There is no upgrade from x86 XP to x64 Vista. -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell] |
