    Excel 2003 Problems

Recently acquired new PC with Vista operating system. Reloaded Office 2003
programs which appear to work ok except for Excel 2003 where areas of screen
blank out in worksheets and do not show information until activated by
running cursor over them. Doesn't matter if in new worksheet created on
Vista/Excel2003 or transferred worksheet. Have run diagnostics and no
problems indicated with hardware, Excel or any other software.

Anyone have any ideas as to cause or solution?

    Re: Excel 2003 Problems

    Hi Dave7--

    1) In Excel 2003 I'd run Detect and Repair.

    2) Have you gotten every SP (SP1 and SP2) offered for Office (and Excel
2003) to date? Also have you applied all the updates considered important
    for Excel 2003? http://office.microsoft.com and
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/re...+service+packs
    and http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...es&btnG=Search

    3) If necessary use the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility as directed
highlighting every Office 2003 related item on the list and removing them
(this removes files and .dlls that may be corrupt and interfere with
    uninstall and reinstall of Office).

    4) Reinstall Office 2003.

You can also post on the MSFT excel groups found by putting the term Excel
in group search if you need more info.

    Good luck,

    CH

Re: Excel 2003 Problems and Vista

Chad, thanks for reply and suggestions. After trying repair, uninstall,
reinstall, etc. and downloading trial version of Office 2007 Excel which
exhibited the same problem, I finally determined that the ATI Radeon 1100
display adapter installed on my new Compaq was not compatible with Excel 2003
(or apparently Excel 2007). Selected Standard VGA Graphics Adapter and the
    problem has cleared up.
