| | Missing DVD drivers I bought Windows Vista Ultimate (on DVD) to install on a new PC. It is an Asus M2R32-MVP mobo + AMD X2 4600+ plus a Lite-On SATA DVD . The DVD boots and I go thru the install supplying my location, keyboard type etc. Suddenly it stops and says that CD / DVD drivers are missing. There is a browse button, but the DVD device is not shown. Now vista obviously knows about the device as it just booted from it and copied files from the DVD to the hard disk. I cannot access the DVD to find any motherboard / DVD drivers. How do I proceed from here? -- Paul |

| | Re: Missing DVD drivers Easier than it sounds... since I cannot access the DVD at this stage. I'm in that loop that I need tro access the DVD to access the drivers to access the DVD .. and so ad infinitum -- Paul "pete" wrote: > You have a DVD SATA............try loading the SATA controller drivers frm > your mobo CD. > peter |

I feel your pain ( I have a beloved asus mobo which is several yearsold now, but was hell-on-earth when I first bought it because of poor driver support. My impression is that asus is usually on the bleeding edge with hardware, and thus it is unwise to try new software on a new asus mobo. Any opinions to the contrary welcomed! (With supporting evidence....) |

| | RE: Missing DVD drivers To get past this problem I de-installed the SATA DVD drive, and added an old dvd reader. This got me past that problem - only as far as another, but that's another post. -- Paul "Paulustrious" wrote: > I bought Windows Vista Ultimate (on DVD) to install on a new PC. | | Re: Missing DVD drivers I was going to suggest the MOBO website.....download the drivers and install from the HD. but I see that you found a way around it. peter "Paulustrious" <msdn_whoisat_paulcotter.com> wrote in message news:8D9220D6-F379-47C9-AACA-9704776A9E99@microsoft.com... > To get past this problem I de-installed the SATA DVD drive, and added an > old > dvd reader.
