file missing or corrupt

when i install windows vista it gets where it is completing upgrade it will
restart puter then it comes up and says windows did not shut down correctly
please restart so i will restart then it says windows failed to load cause a
required file is missing or corrupt....FILE GRFILTER.SYS,,,,status
0xc0000098,,,,,when i went to the vista web sight and ran the compatibilty cd
it said all is good to go,,,,HELP what do i do ..i want to see how this new
window system is so i can make up my mind to get it or not thanks
