Hard drive installation of VISTA

Hello all,

I have this old eMachines Celeron 2, 640 ram, ATI 9200 with "XP restore CD".

I try to install VISTA to "replace" XP but this doesn't happen. Darn thing
keeps XP and every time I boot, starts with 2 choices of opearing system.
How can I install VISTA replacing XP?

The installation files of VISTA resides in hard drive D, and I want to
install it on hard drive C. This PC does not have a DVDROM drive, only CDROM!

Thanks in advance!
