booted from cd to access, now I have 2 OS's

This is going to be complicated to explain. I just started up my new puter
last night, this morning I tried to install some keyboard drivers and
restarted and my keyboard didn't work. Of course I had set a password, which
I will never do again. The only way I could get anything to happen was to
boot from the OS cd. But now, the partions are all messed up. It installed
the OS a second time, so now I have two. The one that won't let me uses the
keyboard, and one that works. The thing is, the one that works seems to be
in the partition that is designated "c: recovery" and has a very small
capacity. The one that doesn't work is in "d: OS". Somehow the recovery
partition became the main partion so that everything that goes onto the
computer now gets directed to it, and it is now full. Is there a way to fix
the original problem with the keyboard not working, or should I reformat? Or
set everything back to when I first loaded the thing? There's nothing on my
computer that isn't backed up to disk.

Loks like it created a dual boot setup. You could format and repartition the
drive and start over or you could edit the boot.ini file and remove the
reference to the non working install.
But, that would leave your OS on the C:Recovery partition. You can always
rename that and expand that partition with disk management tools.

Have you tried booting the original install (now D in safe mode? That
may disable the troublesome keyboard drivers so you can uninstall them.
What drivers did you install?

Re: booted from cd to access, now I have 2 OS's

If in fact abn OEM "Recovery Partition"ha been created on the computer
usually at boot a message is presened that states something like "Hit F11
for restore..." - which puts the computer back inot "original" purchase
state.
You so not provide any info regarding the keyboard drivers - if an USB
keyboard boot into BIOS to verify USB keyboard enabled.
