Greetings folks..bit of a quagmire I've got myself into here

I apologize for long preamble.......
Due to x64 Nvidia Display drivers now available...I decided to take the leap and install Vista Ultimate (upgrade) on my second hard drive.......except;
FYI, I (had) a SATA Raid1 mirror setup (Silcon Image 3114) BUT I made a mistake/error of removing all my Nvidia display drivers (as requested by MS Vista Upgrade Advisor!). This made some sense as I needed the new Nvidia drivers anyway.
On reboot, I had a frozen login screen with non-operational mouse and keyboard.....both usb attached, tried serial ports ..no luck..
tried safe mode, vga reboot...no luck...last known good config ...remained frozen up and unable to get in...so as to affect a system restore etc.
So ... I have decided to reformat one of the drives and reinstall XP so as to install Vista x64 on one drive and "save" my other mirrored drive for a fix of the freeze issue later (I've currently physically removed the 2nd frozen hard drive while I'm reformating, re-installing XP on Disc 0)...
Accordingly, (after I proceed with my clean Vista install)...
Can anyone suggest a way I can re-install the frozen 2nd HD as a slave drive (perhaps) as a dual boot option and get that "backup" drive with my perfectly good and stable XP Pro SP2 OS unfrozen ?
Regards, ward
