| | Re: device driver software installation stopped Hi Cas-- 1) Try it again. It might work. 2) You can try a system restore point if you have one. 3) Try SFC: Above Start type cmd in search>right click cmd when pops up>run as admin>at cmd prompt type: sfc /scannow space after first "c" 4) If none of these work and you have a DVD try to use Startup Repair after putting in the DVD>booting from it>clicking the Recovery Link after the language choice in setup at the lower left of the setup screen. If that won't work, try running system restore from there. | | Re: device driver software installation stopped chad- i tried 1 & 3--3 more words popped up that i didn't understand! sorry, but i'm not computer literate. checking my problem reports and solutions screen, the device driver software installation stopped responding and closed on march 27th. it states that a report was sent, but i do not know what that means to the problem, since the problem still exists. any other thoughts? thanks! | | Re: device driver software installation stopped Cas-- If you have Vista, and web access you can become very computer proficient very fast. You have tons of help at your fingertips. There are great web sites to help you with Vista, and getting one good book like David Pogue's missing manual or any one you sit down with at a book store and looks comfortable for you will go a long way. First of all what device are you trying to get up and running? How are you trying to install the driver for it? I wonder if we both mean the same thing when you say your device driver software installation stopped responding. To many of us that would mean you're having trouble getting in a driver for some peripheral, like a printer or a scanner, a mouse, or some other hdw. Is this what's going on? If so what is the hdw whose driver you want to get installed so the device works? Report sent on a Windows OS means that the information was sent to a data base at Redmond so that MSFT can assimilate it and apply the information to avoid problems in the future. I think if you give us an idea of what you're trying to get running when you are confronted with this error, we can go after a solution for you. If there are any words in any link or message I used that don't make sense--ask and I'll do my best to explain them. | | Re: device driver software installation stopped i do have vista and web access. i was trying to install a likksys disc to download, but my computer is not reading the disc. i had previously tried to do this with my scanner disc to install, and this too would not read. i ended up using the internet to download the scanner info. we actually did previously install the linksys disc when we purchased the computer in march, but my boyfriend could not figure out how to complete the installation, so i uninstalled the download to see if i could figure it out by starting from the beginning! does this help you any more? i appreciate the help!
