    Vista withough Directx 10

    Hey everybody,
I've recently installed windows Vista on my computer, however, it isn't
registering that I have Directx 10. I know Directx 10 comes with Vista, but
it says I only have Directx 9. What's happening?

You need a graphics controller that also supports DX10 such as a member of
    the NVIDIA 8xxx family.

    Hi Rabidzebu--

You need to be more specific; you're confusing me. Vista certainly comes
with Direct X 10 and you have it. Where in the world does "it" say you have
9 in Vista, and what in the world is "it?"

To confirm you have Direct X 10 hit your Windows key + R and in the run box
type dxdiag or simply type dxdiag into the Search box above the start button
on the lower left of your screen. Click dxdiag when it pops up and you'll
    see you have DX 10.

I am really curious to know what "it" is and where "it" is?

    CH

you won't have Dx10 unless you have a Dx10 compatible video card. I believe
the only one of those on the market is the 8800 line of Nvidia GPU's.
Otherwise all else will be Dx9

Yes, The Vista OS comes with Directx 10 support. However, when you run
dxdiag on Vista with a DX9 graphics card installed. It will say you have
Directx 10 and it will also state that some DX10 functions are not available
and if you try and run a DX10 game it will error out right away. When you
switch to a DX10 graphics card theDX10 functions are enabled and a DX10 game
    will run fine.
DX9 based games run fine using either graphics card.
