| | Activation Hi, I have made a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate having bought the System Builder Version. Everything works absolutely fine, but one thing surprises me. I used the trick mentioned in the book - Windows Vista Inside Out - not to type the product key and not to activate automatically in order to try out the program during 30 days. Now after 3 weeks I see that Vista has been activated and by using the utility Keyfinder I find a product number which is not equal to my product number. Does any know an explanation? Jens |

| | Re: Activation Hi, It's not activated. When you install without entering the product key, there is a "filler key" that is used to complete installation. For you to activate, you will need to use the option to change the Product Key, and it must match the version you chose to install when you originally set up the system. When you hit the 30 day mark, you will likely find that the system will not function fully until you do so. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Jens" <jens.thorsen@education.lu> wrote in message news:u7egxgJlHHA.4872@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Hi, > > I have made a clean install of Windows Vista Ultimate having bought the > System Builder Version. | | Re: Activation Help please !!! I bought this new Toshiba laptop and found the product key on its back but when I enter the key to validate Office Works, it tells me that it's invalid! I can only run it 16 times more before it goes into limited functioning. Any suggestions for this dummy? "Rick Rogers" wrote: > Hi, > > It's not activated. | | Re: Activation Hi, The Product Key on the back is for Vista, not Office. Check your system documentation and manuals for one supplied by the system maker. It may be that you have to purchase one in order to receive it. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Badar" <Badar@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8E08A11C-E9B6-4BC9-8600-DB6E812F3667@microsoft.com... > Help please !!! > I bought this new Toshiba laptop and found the product key on its back but > when I enter the key to validate Office Works, it tells me that it's > invalid! > I can only run it 16 times more before it goes into limited functioning. > Any > suggestions for this dummy? > > "Rick Rogers" wrote: > >> Hi, >> >> It's not activated.
