Can't find Digital Locker

I recently upgraded my new Dell notebook from business to ultimate. I used
the upgrade anytime dvd that came with the pc. I thought about what if I need
to reinstall and did some research. It seems that there should be an icon for
digital locker in the control panel. There is not. I should be able to get it
from the internet but it does not have my e mail account that I bought it
with. I used a third party app to find out the key but if I were to
reinstall would that key work with the dell install disc? Am I screwed or
would Microsoft help me through this without charging me $60.00? Or am I
missing something? Not that I'm paranoid about my install going south but
things happen. Any ideas how to get to the file?

Re: Can't find Digital Locker

Hi kcmc20--

If this Anytime Upgrade DVD came with your PC it's Dell's baby. Digital
Locker from MSFT is explained here:

right in blue.

Digital Locker Shipping (MSFT)

If Dell gave you a DVD they should have given you a PK. I assume you mean
you obtained the PK from a 3rd party like Belarc or View Key or Lavalyst
Everest Home, but that PK was from a preinstalled Vista I assume that came
with your Dell.

When you say "Dell Install Disk"--is it a Vista DVD? The reason I ask is
because Dell has promised to Buck MSFT's greediness and go ahead and ship a
Vista DVD with their pc sales.

Here's the promise from Dell on Vista DVD shipping when you pay 1000-4000 of
your hard earned buckes for a PC that they markup hugely. They shipped
about 25 million last year:

This seems like a Dell situation--and I'm not sure how Windows Marketplace's
Locker has a nexus with Dell.

I wouldn't pay 1/60th of a penny to MSFT for help with this. What happens
when you call Dell for help since the DVD came from Dell in the first place?
Why didn't Dell supply you with a PK and why don't they troubleshoot
activation problems? What happens when you call MSFt and ask for
activation?

Good luck,

CH
