OK, here goes. Downloaded iso file and attempted creating DVD...errors saying
not a valid windows image...etc...MD5 hash check proved the file was
corrupted...back to the download...I have completed that process several
times now both using the Akamai Manager and using Netransport. Finally got a
good MD5 hash. On to creating DVD....Tried several types of media...so far
none have produced a successful install. I have been able to get farther than
some but still no working OS. Boot from DVD...files load...get Install Now
screen..choose English as language time and currency and keyboard... click
next...that always produces a setup.exe failure error message...I did see one
poster that was successful by pressing F8 just at completion of loading files
process...Genius! When I tried it gave me the Advanced Options screen...chose
Safe Mode With Command Prompt...Windows drivers loading screen completes and
it booted into safe mode...then the Install Now screen appeared. I thought I
was home free...clicked next....setup.exe error again...I am going to try a
network share install tomorrow. But just in case, I ordered the MS DVD kit.
Why not take the probability of file corruption out of the picture...More
later. Hope some of this helps someone...I was impressed with the fellow that
thought up the safe mode trick...thought I'd pass it along.
