| | Re: Repair install Vista - same as XP? I have seen reference to it in these newsgroups but have not been able to find it in build 5384. Any pointers as how you do it would be appreciated. -- Regards Peter phorsley@<NO SPAM>melbpc.org.au __________________________________________ "Joe727" <nospam@nospam.nospam> wrote in message news:uxDKQtLlGHA.4444@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Hi - is the Repair install function of Vista the same as XP Pro Retail? > > Thanks > > Joe > > |

| | Re: Repair install Vista - same as XP? sort of a sticky situation at this point. Upgrade will not work from within the GUI, which is the same as a repair, and if you boot from the cd, the upgrade option is greyed out. What we are left with is a clean install without formatting the partition. Theoretically, Vista will back up your hard drive, install Vista, and then reload everything again. However, it's hard to say if it will also reload any problems that were there in the first place. For now, I would say the best bet is to keep all critical data backed up, and use clean installs.
