Cant choose upgrade?

Ok when I go to install 32bit version it tells me it cant tell if theres
multiply windows on my partions which there isnt. Theres only one windows
installed on this comp and on this hard drive but yet it disables the upgrade
option! Any help would be great as Im excited to try long horn/Vista.

Please help!

Re: Cant choose upgrade?

I don't think the upgrade option works at all at this stage. An option for
you would be to install to a different partition, and dual boot your current
windows installation with Vista.

Re: Cant choose upgrade?

It works, but there are a few things that can prevent it. It does a check for
certain files/folders at the upgrade screen, if they are present, you can't
upgrade. Also, it will fail without much of any message if there is not enough
free space for an upgrade. Can you get the exact error message that it's giving
you (if there is one)?

Have you run Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor beta? That might
expain why you are having problems.

Re: Cant choose upgrade?

If this was an upgrade to XP from 9x, it is impossible.

Check to ensure that your partition is ntfs, not fat32.

If both of those suggestions check out, check your boot.ini file. It needs
to have only one operating system listed, and it needs to say Windows=, not
winnt=.
