| Guest | Monitors My video card and Vista seems to think 85hz is best for my monitor however my monitor is pretty old and some text is looking fuzzy to me. Is turning the hz level down better for older monitors? or is it actually the other way around?? |

| Guest | Re: Monitors Older monitors usually can't support higher Hz, unless in lower resolutions. At 85hz you should have a screen that looks as nice as paper, at least that has been my experience. I am comparing to a low Hz around 50hz which I find very annoying as I can see the flicker. However, I am now using 2 LCD screens of 20 inches each at 1600 x 1200 resolution with one of them using the DVI interface. Maybe it is the ClearType that is making you think your text is fuzzy? Some people have noted that they hate ClearType, however I love it. | Guest | Re: Monitors Well I just entered a new world by replacing my old CRT with a new 21" widescreen CRT with ClearType enabled. Its fantastic! What surprised me is that running even one level below the highest resolution for this monitor changes more then one would expect. That one last notice to the highest level changes how the applications render in a "mega huge" way. My only complaint is that now I am running at 59hz and I notice the flicker but only very subtlety. Anyway to safely move up with refresh rate even though its not an option from the display options? Maybe after more drivers come out.
