Problems With the Installation System in Vista

Hi I have recently had various components upgraded on my Vista Ulitmate
desktop by a computer Service Point, mostly graphics and audio hardware
On return VB6/ SP6 wont run. It says it is preparing to install. If I let it
run after a very long 'eventually' it gives me a message saying my install
server is not running

It was running perfectly before I took it in
I have restored the machine to the point before it went to be serviced. It
still had the problem
I have successfully reinstalled VB6 with SP 6. It still has the problem

I have no idea what to consider next and would be very grateful for some
advice
