| | Force Install/Uninstall I have a program that was installed by Install Shield. It has disappeared form the Programs list on Add Remove. I tried to reinstall but I get a message that an Old Version is there and I MUST remove it from Add Remove Programs :-0 YES a catch 22. I can't remove it because it is not there and yet I have to remove it to install a new version. The program writes told me to search for a particular phrase in the registry and delete all those keys. What a PAIN. I did it but I still can't install. Obviously something that Installer checks is still there but I have to the faintest idea. I cannot even install a newer version of the program. Is there any way to force this to happen? -- Gil W0MN Yanoff +, the PDA reader Creed en las obras y no en las palabras -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

| Windows Vista Enterprise 64 bit | Re: Force Install/Uninstall Alas, you and I are in the same boat. I have a program which is seen in the Programs and Features list, but when I try to Uninstall it, it asks me the path to the installation msi. If I give that, it tell me that the feature is no longer available. So I cannot uninstall this program in any way. BTW, I wish to install a later version, but that won't install unless I remove the older version. If anyone is listening and has a fix/workaround, please let us know. The last thing that I wish to do is clean reformat |

| | Re: Force Install/Uninstall Try to reinstall the old Program. With a lot of programs, once it recognises that it is already there, it might give you the "repair, install, update, uninstall" options Failing that, go to the C: drive>program files(click to show hidden folders)>right-click >Delete. -- Mick Murphy - Qld - Australia "AmitKulkarni" wrote: Quote: > > Alas, you and I are in the same boat. > > I have a program which is seen in the Programs and Features list, but > when I try to Uninstall it, it asks me the path to the installation msi. > If I give that, it tell me that the feature is no longer available.
