startup issues.

Hi,

I'm trying to install Windows Vista and I manage to get it to install using
a PS2 Keyboard (not my normal one) and by unplugging all my usb peripherals
(which caused the installation to pause).

However, when windowws is installed during the boot up it hangs at
the"Microsoft Corperation" screen.

I've included my system specs (below). Many thanks.

Are all other peripherals disconnected as well, assuming they are not USB,
if no, disconnect them as well. Is the system connected to internet or some
broadband modem, disconnect the system from that as well.

Is this an upgrade or clean install. If an upgrade over a previous setup,
it's possible something, some application installed on that setup is causing
the Vista setup to choke.

Re: startup issues.

Many thanks. This happens both after an upgrade and a clean install. However
I unplugged USB devices but left a hub plugged in.

Now the system blue screens on startup.

Any ideas?

It sounds as though Vista setup is choking on some device, especially true
since it happens on both clean and upgrade installs as that would seem to
rule software. It may be graphics card or soundcard, only way to find out,
assuming they are not integrated into the motherboard would be to remove
them one at a time, trying the install after each one. If they are
integrated, you may need to install drivers for them during the
installation. There is a point early in setup where you are presented with
that option.

You should also check your motherboard manufacturer for any necessary
updated drivers and check with VIA as well in that regard, check them all to
see about any issues or special needs if installing Vista.
