| Guest | vista business upgrade I am trying to upgrade from XP pro to Vista Business and have not had any success! Vista Advisor says my system will work with Vista Business but suggested I upgrade the Video card because I wouldn't be able to enjoy all "Windows Aero Experience". it also wasn't able to find compatibility issues with my old Soundbalster card. WIll these issues block me from upgrading even though the advisor says it will work? Is there any thing I can do or have I thrown the cost of the upgrade out the window (no pun intended) What do I need to do? Thanks |

| Guest | Re: vista business upgrade Hi, Aero is a feature, not a requirement. If you use a video card that doesn't support it, you simply get the older Windows interface. Do not rely on the Upgrade Advisor as being the end determinant. While it is a useful tool, it can only report what it knows are incompatibilities. It is strongly recommended that you verify that all hardware is compatible or has drivers available from the manufacturer (see HCL here: https://winqual.microsoft.com/HCL/Default.aspx). Antivirus and disk utility programs should be uninstalled, not just disabled. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "DennisRS" <DennisRS@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EC957902-1E03-4AB0-85F4-931770A03A89@microsoft.com... >I am trying to upgrade from XP pro to Vista Business and have not had any > success! > Vista Advisor says my system will work with Vista Business but suggested > I upgrade the Video card because I wouldn't be able to enjoy all > "Windows Aero Experience". it also wasn't able to find compatibility > issues > with my old Soundbalster card. > > WIll these issues block me from upgrading even though the advisor says it > will work?
