problems upgrading word 2003 to vista- help! I can't figure it ou

Am looking for general help- I guess I'm just stupid here. I have an
existing and licensed copy of 2003 office. I was told I could install it
onto vista and it would recognize/upgrade it to the new versions of word,
etc. Needless to say that ain't working. the existing word won't initialize
and won't take my 2003 product key...

"onto vista and it would recognize/upgrade it to the new versions of

Windows Vista is an operating system, not the same as Microsoft Word
so one does not upgrade the other.

Exactly what is the "existing word" since that is not included or part
of any Microsoft operating system?

Is your Microsoft Office a full or upgrade?
How are you trying to install Microsoft Office?

If you are having problems with installing word I suggest you post to a word
or office setup newsgroup. If it's not taking the product key that would
suggest you are using the wrong key or not entering it correctly. See this
link:

Look down the left side for the Word and Office newsgroups and post to one
of those.

Word 2003 does install in Vista but it is installed it is still the 2003
version of Word. It does not upgrade to a a newer version unless you
purchase the newer version.

Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability
to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable
for their apparent disinclination to do so.
