Vista - Vista installation stall.

A friend of mine recently tried to re-format his SATA hard disk, and gets a
strange glitch.

Every time he went through the installation, it would get to 82% of
"Extracting/Unpacking Files" then freeze. Exactly the same place every time.

When he brought it to me, I noticed that he did not install his SATA
drivers, so I did. The only thing that changed is the "Extracting/Unpacking
Files" froze at 0%. I cannot get it to install at all. When I simply wait and
wait and wait, eventually it times out, with a dialog box opening to tell me
the installation could not be completed.

Help me please.

i have the same exact problem, but it stops at 21% and it doesnt go any
farther. when the computer is restarted, it restores it back to xp media
center. wht i dont understand, is i have a SATA disk on another vista
computer, and it installed sucessfully, but the motherboard is from 2004 or
2005, so im not sure if its something with newer motherboards
