| | Vista fustration I've been trying to upgrade to Vista Home Premium from windows XP media center 2005 update rollup-2 when I try to upgrade or clean install I get an error message that states that the computer cannot do anything with the boot configuration, then cancels the installation. I have an HP a1243w, with an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 +3200 1.79 GHZ processor running 1.43 gigs of RAM and I have 32.5 Gigs of Free space on my STA hard drive. |

| | Re: Vista fustration Hi, Disable any boot time protection in the system BIOS, and uninstall any active antivirus software in the existing system (note that I said uninstall, not just disable). You can install a Vista compatible version after the upgrade completes. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Livin Legend" <Livin Legend@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:56E0D11A-A891-4818-929B-6AD0CE70B6CB@xxxxxx Quote: > I've been trying to upgrade to Vista Home Premium from windows XP media > center 2005 update rollup-2 when I try to upgrade or clean install I get > an > error message that states that the computer cannot do anything with the > boot > configuration, then cancels the installation.
