Hi Jessica,
I assume you mean when you are doing the "Enable POP" option on G-mail's site. The "forward to" is for if you want to forward a copy of the incoming email from your G-mail account to another email account that you have. You would put that email address there, if that is what you wanted. It is not necessary for G-mail.
How do I enable POP?

You don't need to forward Gmail, that's just one option.
If you use Windows Mail, configure Gmail for the POP option:
