Receiving and sending problems

Windows mail was working quite fine until yesterday.
Here are my problems:
- everytime that I want to send a message, I need to close and re-open WM
before the email can be send. That has been the case since the beginning.
- I start up my computer and open WM. I can recive and send email once, and
than it does not react anymore when I click on the button Send and receive.
Even close WM does not help. I need now everytime shut down my pc and restart
to be able to receive and send email.
Help URGENTLY needed. I don't have no Anti-virus installed at all. Need a
simple solution as losing my data is out of the question.
And yes, I have installed the KB from Microsoft and pc is only one month old.

PLEASE HELP...
Thanks

Re: Receiving and sending problems

Do you have any other third party security software installed,
like anti-spyware?

If you need an urgent resolution, I suggest you download
and install Windows Live Mail:
http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas
It will automatically import all your WM accounts, settings,
and emails.

Re: Receiving and sending problems

Hi Gary,

No, I do not have any other third party security software running. So, what
could it be?

I am not fond of Windows Live Mail, so what other email programs do you
suggest, except Thunderbird?

Thanks,
Erwin

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these
Web pages.
Help with malware:
All MS-MVP Sites.
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm
http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htm
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/...moving_Malware

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=27971
Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Re: Receiving and sending problems

The problem you are having is not normal WM behavior, so if
you are able, you may want to do a repair-install of Vista:
Re: Repair Install

Of the free email programs, I am only familiar with WM, WLM and
Thunderbird. Years ago I tried some of the others, like Eudora
and Pegasus, but I did not like them.
There is a review of the top 10 free email programs here:
http://email.about.com/od/windowsema...email_prog.htm

Also, if you have access to a copy of Outlook 2003 or later, that
would be a good candidate.
