| | Help! Why do my hotmail contacts keep appearing in Windows Mail? I'd like to keep my hotmail (personal) accounts separate from my Windows Mail (business) account, but my hotmail contacts keep appearing as folders in my Windows Mail account each time I open a hotmail account. How do I stop this from happening? I have not (knowingly) created any links and none are shown in my Windows Mail system. Also, a hotmail contact told me that they could see my other accounts when they opened a message, which is quite worrying: how do I prevent this too? By 'hotmail', I mean 'Windows Live' or whatever it is now called. Any help greatly appreciated! -- Peter |

| | Re: Help! Why do my hotmail contacts keep appearing in Windows Mai Windows Live Mail may take over some day in the future, but currently it is still in beta testing, and it won't be included in a standard Vista system unless you download it. I'm confused by your statement "my hotmail contacts keep appearing as folders in my Windows Mail account each time I open a hotmail account." Can you walk us through the steps of exactly what you are doing? | | Re: Help! Why do my hotmail contacts keep appearing in Windows Mai Thanks for your patience Gary Basically I use Windows Mail all day every day for my business. It is left open all the time. Perhaps once or twice a day, I may open one of my hotmail (live mail) accounts (usually via messenger) to check for personal messages. After I have done so, if I go back to Windows Mail and click the Contacts icon, a new folder appears labelled with my hotmail account email address. If I open another hotmail account, a second folder appears. -- Peter "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > Windows Live Mail may take over some day in the future, but > currently it is still in beta testing, and it won't be included in a > standard Vista system unless you download it. > > I'm confused by your statement "my hotmail contacts keep appearing > as folders in my Windows Mail account each time I open a hotmail account." > Can you walk us through the steps of exactly what you are doing? > > Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] > > > "Peter" <Peter@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:2349CF58-AB1D-4FA5-AC2F-BD2B4A8AD30B@xxxxxx Quote: > >I am absolutely sure that it is Windows Mail ...it came as part of Vista with > > my new laptop. | | Re: Help! Why do my hotmail contacts keep appearing in Windows Mai I also have a username@xxxxxx folder in my Windows Contacts, but it only appeared after I downloaded and began using Windows Live Mail. After thinking about your experience I'm wondering whether the same mechanism that caused *that* to happen to me could be brought about by Windows Live Hotmail or Live Messenger. I don't know, as I'm not familiar with those apps. Unless someone else here is knowledgeable in that area, you would be more likely to get an answer in the MSN or Messenger forums: On the web: http://www.microsoft.com/communities...msn.discussion http://www.microsoft.com/communities....msn.messenger or via your news reader: news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...msn.discussion news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof....msn.messenger -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "Peter" <Peter@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:A2EDECFB-0DCD-4842-A23B-C19CE1AE3FE5@xxxxxx Quote: > Thanks for your patience Gary > > Basically I use Windows Mail all day every day for my business. | | Re: Help! Why do my hotmail contacts keep appearing in Windows Mai I have the same - my Hotmail accounts show up in the Contacts folder in Windows Mail. I do have Windows Live Messenger installed. Each of my Hotmail account folders contains the contacts for that IM instance. It would appear that Windows Live Messenger is sharing the inbuilt Contacts folder in Vista with Windows Mail. -- Jane, not plain 64 bit enabled :-)Batteries not included. | | Re: Help! Why do my hotmail contacts keep appearing in Windows Mai Thanks for that confirmation. The OP does NOT want the contacts sharing to happen. I have no idea how to turn it off. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "Jane C" <janecolman@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:C6456725-571B-47A8-94E1-2229CBC4A1E6@xxxxxx Quote: >I have the same - my Hotmail accounts show up in the Contacts folder in > Windows Mail.
