Error 0x800CCC19 on Windows Mail

Hi,

I have been using Windows mail for a while now to access my email. I can
receive without difficulty but all of a sudden I cannot send anything. The
server connects but times out with the error message above. I know my server
settings are correct

smtp1.nhs.net Port 587

I have no antivirus installed at present and I hav tried deleting the
accounts and reentering them. I have not installed any updates between the
account working and not.

Any suggestions?

There is more to that error message than you have posted.

Re: Error 0x800CCC19 on Windows Mail

Subject 'test of new settings', Account: 'imapmail1.nhs.net', Server:
'smtp1.nhs.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number:
0x800CCC19

Basically what happpens is that if you send a message it comes up saying
connected but it never sends the message and eventually you get a timeout. It
does not make any difference increasing this timeout.

SMTP is usually on TCP port 25. Yes, my ISP EarthLink is on 587 for SMTP
too. Maybe, your user id and psw are not valid an more. I have has that
happen ,and I had the psw reset.

I run Vista FW and IPsec on Vista, and I forgot to configure IPsec to use
TCP 587, which was still using TCP port 25. I changed IPsec to use 587. You
sure something is not blocking 587?

0x800CCC19 TIMEOUT
Go to Tools | Accounts.
Select the account and click Properties.
On the Advanced tab increase the timeout slider to two minutes.

Email scanning by an anti-virus can cause this.
Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled.

Are you sure nhs.net wants SSL checked?

Re: Error 0x800CCC19 on Windows Mail

Hi,

I have no anti-virus installed as I stated. I have currently got all windows
security settings switched off (ie defender, firewall etc). I have my router
firewall switched off as well. I have no other software to block ports.
My username and password are correct and I can receive email through IMAP on
this account. 587 with SSL is the correct setting, I have checked this with
the roaming user guide provided by NHS.net. Increasing the timeout makes no
difference. When this works normally the connection is almost instant.

Any further suggestions?

Re: Error 0x800CCC19 on Windows Mail

Cl,ick on Tools, then Accounts, then the account you want to modify,
then Properties. Search the tabs for what you want to change, and
change it. Then click on Apply and then OK.

I'm not familiar with the FAX options.

Re: Error 0x800CCC19 on Windows Mail

I've verified that your settings are correct as specified by your ISP:
http://www.connectingforhealth.nhs.u...?pageid=4-2-1c

The only suggestion I have is to delete the account, restart Windows Mail,
then recreate the account. Something may have corrupted that account.
