Post a link to a message using Window Mail for News Groups

This was asked in Vista.General and my usual method no longer works.

And my questions is SPECIFICALLY using Windows Mail.

You can get to the server with NEWS:\\MSNEWS.Microsoft.com

And you can get to this group using

NEWS:\\MSNEWS.Microsoft.com\microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

However adding the link seen in a REPLY after the original poster's name no
longer works. Anyone know how to make this work now?

Re: Post a link to a message using Window Mail for News Groups

So how does one now add the news:O5G blah blah blah so that clicking
it would take one to that message using Windows Mail?

I don't want to have to use Google Groups or the MS Web Forum.....

Try NEWS://MSNEWS.Microsoft.com/microsof...ows.vista.mail
You used backslashes instead of forward slashes.

Re: Post a link to a message using Window Mail for News Groups

Use this syntax:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/<MessageID>

For example:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/u7bfxOVGIHA.1316@xxxxxx

The Message ID can be found in the message header (Right-click on the post, choose Properties, select the Details tab, and look at the "References: " field)
