| | Re: message stuck in outbox & Yahoo.com mail site problems Gary - I was talking about the .dll file in WMUtil. But I did get it open when I clicked on the other file included in the zip file. So I have done that (thanks) You were right - I did mean that Yahoo emails were no longer showing up there when they went to Windows Mail. Thanks so much for that fix. I did change the Properties to leaving a copy on the server so now I can get those. GUESS WHAT I FIGURED OUT WHAT TO DO WHEN The messages in my Outbox won't send and here are the two messages I receive when trying to send: The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'yoohoo', Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E Account: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR popgate unknown command', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18 I needed to change the Ports to (outgoing) 995 & 465 like on the Yahoo account & click that it does need a secure setting for both in and outgoing. (aren't you proud of me for figuring that out? ;-) There is one question I can't figure out the answer to. There are 1000 messages in my Window Mail that were taken off the Yahoo server and I would like them to go back. Is there anyway to do that as a group? I tried the export button and it made an .iaf file, but that I think that only exported a list of files not the emails themselves. Thanks so much for your input... You are a life saver, you know? -R "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > Can't open what .dll file? > What drivers needed fixing? > > -- > Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) > > > "RWag" <RWag@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:09B89B13-A9D1-4B10-ABA0-040D948D372B@xxxxxx Quote: > > Gary, now I find I can't open the .dll file. | | Re: message stuck in outbox & Yahoo.com mail site problems I started this thread about two years ago and have since solved the problem...somewhat. I set up a gmail account just for this and use that as my smtp for outgoing mail. My regular ISP is my incoming account. For the most part I have had no trouble. Occasionally I see things getting stuck, but that may be more a function of my computer itself, which is six years old. Because the outgoing emails are coming from gmail, they will stay in the sent box in gmail, as well as in my Outlook sent box. I go in every now and then and clean out the gmail outbox, since I already have them saved in outlook. | | Re: message stuck in outbox Hi Gary....I have a problem where I have a message in my Draft File that is highlighted in red (apparently a suspected problem noted by Norton Anti-virus) and whenever I open my Draft File, my Windows Mail stops working and usually restarts. I would like to delete the file but cannot because the program stops as soon as I open the Draft File. I tried the download suggested for my 32 bit Vista and was told that it was "inappropriate"....I assume that perhaps the program is already there but not sure. Is this different from the problem with the Outbox issues that people are talking about. Any help is appreciated. | | Re: message stuck in outbox That issue is not related to the 'message stuck in Outbox' problem. Your basic problem is that you're allowing Norton antivirus to interact with your email program. That's a big no-no, see http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off, although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects. In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled. If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem, do a trial uninstall of your antivirus. If no improvement, you can always reinstall it. Instead of uninstalling your antivirus, consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs. http://download.live.com/wlmail -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/VanderMolen "rnblver" <rnblver@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:EC22381C-07B3-4844-982D-F8233C8A7BB1@xxxxxx Quote: > Hi Gary....I have a problem where I have a message in my Draft File that is > highlighted in red (apparently a suspected problem noted by Norton > Anti-virus) and whenever I open my Draft File, my Windows Mail stops working > and usually restarts.
