| | Microsoft Communities In Vista I noticed now there is access to Microsoft's own usenet groups. Here on the web interface I can log in with the Windows Live and post this question. But my question is what do I need to post within Windows Mail? The Windows Live ID does not work if I select the server to use a log in. But so far nothing I have posted as shown up. |

Or, you could tell us who your internet provider is and see if anyone here has already found the instructions. The same goes for posting to newsgroups other than Microsoft's - you're likely to find other newsgroups on their newsgroup server if they have one. I'm not familiar with Windows Live, which is not the same as Windows Live Mail, a program you may need to download from Microsoft if you need to connect using a web interface. |

| | Re: Microsoft Communities I am not trying to send e-mail, merely post to the Microsoft's own newsgroups. When I first setup Vista, and the Mail program there is the option to add the "Microsoft Communities" account, which is just Usenet. While I can receive posts, I just can not respond or post anything to the server. So my question is how can I enable posting to these groups? By going to www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/ I can log in here using a Windows Live ID and post, as I have done now. But withing Windows Mail I can view this same message, just not respond. But this is merely a web interface to their own usenet server. Since my Windows Live ID seems to work only for the web interface, I would like to know what I need to post to the groups from withing Windows Mail "robertNOSPAMmiles@xxxxxx" wrote: Quote: > > "Jim" <Jim@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:852C5D31-0734-412F-B2A8-6310484A0AAD@xxxxxx Quote: > > In Vista I noticed now there is access to Microsoft's own usenet groups. > > Here > > on the web interface I can log in with the Windows Live and post this > > question. | | Re: Microsoft Communities My Microsoft Communities account already came set up so I could read and post. When you are reading a Microsoft Communities post under Windows Mail, what happens if you click on Reply Group or click on Message and then New Message? You might click on Tools, then Options, then Send, and if there's no check mark in the box before Send messages immediately, click on this box and then Apply. Click on OK to leave this window. If you add a newsgroups account for your internet provider, you may find that they carry microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail on their server and you would have another place to try sending a message.
