| | not all messages were imported Hi, I was trying to move my mesages from old laptop with Ms Outlook into new computer with Vista Mail. I transferred them into OE on the old comp first with no problems and then moved the whole folder to a location on the laptop with Windows Mail and imported them from this folder using Import from OE6. Everything would be great if not the fact that only approximately 10% of all messages were imported (1300 messages in all folders). I repeated importing and the results was the same. The problem is mainly with Inbox where the smallest no of emails was imported. Does WM have some capacity limits in terms of no of emals it can store or where could be the problem and how can I fix so I have all of my old emails in WM? -- /daissy |

Did you check the "(NOTE: Vista can put the wrong path in here sometimes, so instead of c:\mypath it puts c:\mypath\mypath, so check the path to verify that it is correct, and if it is not correct then fix it by clicking the Browse button a second time and then leave the selection blank and clicking Okay.)" from the site? | | Re: not all messages were imported Hi Shawn, Yes, I did, otherwise none of messages would be imported I guess. Definitely there must be the reason behind why WM chose to import only a part out of all messages, I hope to find with your help ![]() -- /daissy "brink" wrote: Quote: > > daissy;499850 Wrote: Quote: > > Hi Brink, > > > > That's exactly the website I used for guidance when I was importing the > > messages and the problem occured anyway. > > -- > > /daissy > > > Daissy, > > I'm not sure why it didn't. | Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: not all messages were imported It is hard to say with Windows Mail. It's message store is so sensitive. You might try importing them again to see if they will come over this time. One possibility is that there may be some corruption in the DBX files, or that all of the "Read only" attributes have not been unchecked in the DBX file's Properties. Wish I new more about OE to help better. Shawn |

| | Re: not all messages were imported All read only attributes have been removed. I'll try to do the whole exporting-importing process again to see if it helps. What WM does now when importing from dbx files, it says it copies 1,2, ...up to 20 messages out of 200 and then it says it has finished although the remaining 180 were not copied. I remember that when I was importing for the first time I cancelled the operation at the beginning, maybe it somewhow corrupted the files, so I'll transfer them again from the outlook. Hope it will help. I'll let you know in 3 days once I have access to my old computer. Thank you for your help. If that doesn't work you can use DBXtract to extract the messages from the DBX files as individual EML messages. They can then be dragged into a folder in an open Windows Mail. -- Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM www.fjsmjs.com Do not send email |

DBXtract ($7): http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/Default.aspx There is also a free alternative to DBXtract, though not for DBXpress: http://www.insideoe.com/resources/tools.htm#macallan -- Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM www.fjsmjs.com Do not send email |
