WM won't show OLE Object: Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet

Hi,
I get messages with the excel object inside which WM does not display. When
someone replies on this original message and I am copied on the reply then I
see in the place where the object is supposed to be the following thing:

<< OLE Object: Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet >>

I didn't have problems with seeing those objects on XP with Ms Outlook, but
WM simply doesn't show them. I checked WM security settings and put them into
lowest possible which did not help.

Any helpful ideas are welcome since I receive those emails regularly and
can't see what's inside.

You'll probably have to install a new program under Vista, which should
include Excel. Windows Mail can't display them by itself.

You're not giving us much to work with.
Do you have Excel installed on that Vista computer?

Re: WM won't show OLE Object: Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet

By any chance, do you have Outlook 2007 available, or can you install
the Outlook from your previous (XP) computer? It would be interesting
to see if Outlook on Vista produces the same results you are seeing
with Windows Mail.

You say this happens with replied messages. Is it possible that the
problem originates with the person doing the replying?

I don't have enough Office expertise to judge whether the mismatch
between the OS language and the Office language could cause this
problem.

Re: WM won't show OLE Object: Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet

I see blank space when message comes from the originator. When it comes from
the person who replies, than I see at least in the body << OLE Object:
Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet >> . But from the original sender I can't
see completely anything, so the problem does not originate with the person
doing the reply.

I don't have Outlook 2007 installed, and I don't have the one from XP
computer available anymore. But I am doing a quick check with other ppl using
Vista who receive the same message, whether they have such a problem as well.
I will let you know.

Re: WM won't show OLE Object: Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet

One possibility is that the originator is sending messages from Outlook
with its RTF format. Only other Outlook clients can handle RTF format.
Ask the originator to send in HTML or plain text format.

Re: WM won't show OLE Object: Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet

I checked with my colleague who receives the same message via MS Outlook on
Vista, he has no problems with it. I also checked that I am not able to see
it with Outlook Express on XP with Excell installed neither.

I'll try to influence the originator then, but that might not be that easy.
I'll let you know once I find out anything more.

Thank you.
