Can't open attachments in Mail

Is there a specific switch that will allow me to open attachments
straightforward? The problem I'm having is that I can't open attachments
directly and when I opt to save the attachments, Mail just hangs and forces
me to close Mail, to continue waiting or some other crappy option.
Yet, if I save the attachment, it shows in Documents, even though the
rotating thingy is still going around and around. The attachments are
usually jpegs and pdfs, which in themselves need no special or obscure
program to open.
Please help. Thanks
Roxy

Re: Can't open attachments in Mail

Make sure you are not using incompatible third party security
software. Windows Mail is not compatible with most McAfee
and Norton security programs. Those will need to be
uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see
