Adding new contacts

When I go to add a new contact or edit information I double click on the
contact I want to edit than a box appears real quick then disappears. The
same thing happens when I try to add a new contact. The only contacts that
are in there are people that I have emailed and the computer has remembered
the email address. I am new to vista and don't know if there is something
special I should do.

Please advise,
Megan

Hi Megan,

Make sure that "Windows Contacts" has all of it's default associations set to it. This tutorial will show you how. Just select "Windows Contacts" and click on "Set this program as default".

Your welcome Megan,

You might also take a look at this tutorial for more information on Contacts that may help to.

Re: Adding new contacts

I am having the same problem. The box appears then disappears. The toolbar has the 'new contact' button but clicking on it just sees it flash then go again.

Any ideas?

Hi Cornwall,

Welcome to the Vistax64.com forum.

It sounds like Contacts lost it's association. Did you already try the #2 post above? If this is the problem, then it should take care of it.

Did you install or change anything before this started to happen?

You can try System Restore, if you have it enabled, and select a restore point dated before this started to happen. You can see how in this tutorial.

I have exactly the same problem - I am sure that all associations are correct. I installed Office 2000 - I wonder if there's some kind of conflict? Either way, I can't import contacts, add new ones, or edit existing ones - any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Adding new contacts

Your problem with Contacts is due to Office 2000 (actually
Outlook 2000). For more on this see
