Slow response composing new mail

Why does Win Mail take 8-10 seconds to display the Compose dialog? The frame
of the dialog opens immediately but remains blank for 8-10 seconds before I
can enter anything. Anything I can do to fix this configuration-wise?

Thx,

Re: Slow response composing new mail

Gary,

It's probably the "too many contacts" problem, which was caused in XP by two
conditions: (1) I had that stupid feature turned on that stored the contact
for every email I received (replied to?). I turned that off in WinMail. (2)
When using Identities in OE6, I somehow merged my wife's and my addrbooks,
and then we started seeing three and four copies of the same contact. I
think the address books were up to no good overnight when we weren't
watching. I am in the process of heavily editing of the Vista Contacts
folder and will probably reduce it by 90% in size. I'm down to the C's.

Thanks for your many helpful posts.
