| | Recipients of my e-mail attachments can not open them. Recipients of my e-mails with .wps attachments can not open them. If I convert the file to a .doc file the alignment is slightly off. Is there anything I can do or does everyone have to install a conversion to open my files? -- Dorsey |

| | Re: Recipients of my e-mail attachments can not open them. Apparently they do not have a program to open the .wps files. If they can open older versions of Word attachments should they be able to open Word Processor (wps) attachments? I tried to send an e-mail with a .wps attachment to my wife at work and she was unable to open it. If I save it as a .doc file and attach it she can open it. It doesn't seem that that step should be necessary. -- Dorsey "robertmiles@xxxxxx" wrote: Quote: > > "Dorsey" <Dorsey@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:BB9B134E-39F8-4CF3-9264-A3AA113696B7@xxxxxx Quote: > > Recipients of my e-mails with .wps attachments can not open them. | | Re: Recipients of my e-mail attachments can not open them. ..WPS files are created by Microsoft Works. Some versions of Word will open those automatically, while others need to have the right converter/filter installed. So, one can't be sure whether the recipient will have the means to open that .WPS document. For compatibility, the Works document should be saved as a .DOC document. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] <robertmiles@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23i2EDOxIIHA.4712@xxxxxx Quote: >I doubt if Word and Word Processor are the same program. > > "Dorsey" <Dorsey@xxxxxx> wrote in message > news:8FB0F5D3-F59D-43E6-B73B-5F03F9F10830@xxxxxx Quote: >> Apparently they do not have a program to open the .wps files. | | Re: Recipients of my e-mail attachments can not open them. I believe you are right on the mark. I've been doing that but the alignment appears to be off just a little bit. I was looking for an alternative work around. Would the only real fix be to install a Word program? -- Dorsey "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: Quote: > ..WPS files are created by Microsoft Works. | | Re: Recipients of my e-mail attachments can not open them. Yes, for best compatibility the document should be composed in Word. I don't know of any other workarounds besides what was already mentioned. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "Dorsey" <Dorsey@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:FC6F552C-8B62-4B08-82D5-D004B19343A7@xxxxxx Quote: >I believe you are right on the mark.
