ÿþ shows up on some outgoing mail why?

I am working with vista home premium and using windows mail. I do not know
what this is or why it appears in place of the text in the body of the
message.

can someone help

Sent mail or received mail?
Are you changing the format?
Are these Replies of new messages?
HTML or plain text?

norm referenced a good article, but if it doesn't fix things answer these
questions in your answer.

This is a rare bug. In the past 9+ months while working the WM and WLM
newsgroups on a daily basis, you are only the fifth person I have come
across who reported this same bug. We never did find a solution, other
than to switch to the Thunderbird email client.

Interesting to know, Gary. Sure is odd to see that symptom without an
association to the known previous underlying cause.
