'smtp' is not a valid server name. The correct name depends on who is your
email provider (who is usually also your internet provider). Ask them for
instructions for how to set up to use their email server. If they haven't
written instructions for Windows Mail yet, use the instructions for Outlook
Express, but under Windows Mail instead. The instructions are probably
somewhere on their web site. Or, you could tell us who your email provider
is and see if anyone here already knows where to find their instructions.

If it is Comcast, enter: smtp.comcast.net

Go to Windows Mail==>Tools==>Accounts==>Mail==>Properties==>Servers, correct
smtp (outgoing server). If you have a few account select the right one
before clicking Properties button.
