| | Send/Receive on IMAP versus Check Mail and Synchronize This Folder. IMAP Check Mail: I am using IMAP mail. When I hit the "Send/Receive" button on the toolbar the default behavior was for Windows Mail to check every one of my IMAP folders for new mail. As I have a number of folders this took too long. I then modified my synchronization settings so that only the Inbox would be synchronized. This is the behavior I want for a "check mail" operation. IMAP Synchronize This Folder: Alternately I sometime want to synchronize a particular folder. Ideally the GUI would provide me a "Synchronize This Folder" menu item in a context menu, or some other equivalent and then perform the task immediately. For this operation it seems that I need to modify my "Synchronization Settings" and then run "Send/Receive." I then need to modify my "Synchronization Settings" again to take the folder back off the list. This works but it is a three step operation. Can Windows Mail be configured to behave in the two ways I describe above - or is going through the "Synchronization Settings" the only way to get this behavior? Note that my "IMAP Synchronize This Folder" operation would also address "IMAP Check Mail" as an immediate synchronization could just be performed on the Inbox. Perhaps only a "Synchronize This Folder" feature is needed? |
