| | messages>>Windows Mail back to Outlook express So I'm getting really annoyed with Vista, and I'm thinking about going back down to XP..If I decide to do that, I do not want to lose my messages... When I go to file...Export messages...I choose outlook express/exchange format, well it says "Profile name" so i leave it outlook, and then it exports them, and says they were exported sueccesful.. the only problem is...Where are they!? I know where my actual messages are stored, but not sure if that is compitable with xp, how the extentsion is.. How can I back them up, when I reformat the computer back to XP? Thanks! |

| | Re: messages>>Windows Mail back to Outlook express Where do you see this "outlook express/exchange" format? When I go to Export Messages, the options are Exchange or Windows Mail. Exchange format is not suitable if you are planning to go back to Outlook Express. Use the Windows Mail format option. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "liz" <liz@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:AFF886D3-803C-4201-8D6A-34B101B847D4@xxxxxx Quote: > So I'm getting really annoyed with Vista, and I'm thinking about going back > down to XP..If I decide to do that, I do not want to lose my messages... > > When I go to file...Export messages...I choose outlook express/exchange > format, well it says "Profile name" so i leave it outlook, and then it > exports them, and says they were exported sueccesful.. the only problem > is...Where are they!? | | Re: messages>>Windows Mail back to Outlook express Strange! On mine when I do that it says the export can be used with Exchange or Outlook. Outlook and Outlook Express are completely different email programs. They cannot use each other's message files. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "liz" <liz@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:285A837A-216D-4B42-B4BB-6ACE25FA79BD@xxxxxx Quote: > after I click exchange, it says this will export so you can use it in > exchange or express. > > "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > Quote: >> Where do you see this "outlook express/exchange" format? >> When I go to Export Messages, the options are Exchange >> or Windows Mail. | | Re: messages>>Windows Mail back to Outlook express you're right. it does say exchange or outlook. so if I back it up using the "windows mail" i will then be able to import that into outlook express when I downgrade back to XP?
