Windows Mail will not open when I click on email link on a web pag

In Windows XP ,with Outlook Express wheneve, when I clicked on an email
contact link on a web page Outlook Express would automatically open to send a
message I cannot get Windows mail to do this with either Firefox or Explorer
.. I have Windows Mail set as the default mail. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Just because a program is listed as 'default' does not mean it has been
assigned all of its possible default actions or protocols. Try this:
Go to Default Programs, which you can access either from the Start menu
or via the Control Panel, then click the first item: "Set your default programs."
After a few seconds a list of programs comes up. Click on Windows Mail.
If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults" then fix it by
clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

Did you verify that Windows Mail had "all" of its defaults?
Also, Internet Explorer has to be your default browser.

I was having the same problem, and Windows Mail had all its defaults and still would not open from web links. I found my solution, so try this too. Go to Default Programs and click on the last item - Set program access and computer defaults. You will be asked if you want to continue. Choose you program configuration, and click the down arrow, then make sure your email default is Windows Mail, not "use my current..." This worked for me.
