Windows Mail won't connect to Hotmail. You may want to download and
install Windows Live Mail, which will:

http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

Vista doesn't come with an email address built in.

Your internet provider is likely to have already given you an email address,
so ask them for instructions to set up to use their email servers. If they
haven't written instructions for Windows Mail yet, use their instructions
for Outlook Express but under Windows Mail instead. They are likely
to have put the instructions somewhere on their web site. Or, you can
tell us who your internet provider is, and see if anyone here already knows
where to find the instructions.
