When I try to receive emails from my second account it times out and gives me an error message 0x800ccc0f and never receive messages, sometimes lose them all together. I have used outlook express for years. Never a problem. My internet provider wants me to delete any large email. I email to about 80 people using now windows mail. I dont want to always delete them how do I get them to windows live??? Frustrated |

| | Re: receiving mail What do you mean by "windows live"? The email program discussed here is Windows Mail. When you try to receive mail from that second account, does it stop on "receiving 8 of 12" or something similar, or does it not get that far, and nothing gets downloaded? It will be helpful if you include the entire error message. Right-click on it, copy, then paste it into a reply here. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "aktinkerbell" <aktinkerbell@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:0FAA3ABC-F544-4813-A8C9-F405600D51A6@xxxxxx Quote: >I have two accounts I have set them up the same with the help of my internet > provider. | | Re: receiving mail I have been experiencing a similar problem, since starting to use Vista - except that I could not connect to my ISP Mail Server. I had the POP-3 and SMTP dns names in the Account setup - just like I have setup Outlook, Outlook Express on W2K & XP for years. Today, I configured it with the IP Adresses of those mail servers and it worked fine. I don't know if this will work for you, but it might. If they should change those IP adresses because of maintenance, I would be dead in the water, again. Is there a method of adding those mail server entries without using their IP addresses? I'm using Vista Home Premium. | | Re: receiving mail There is, but it may not be recommended when you are having problems with your DNS server, as it sounds like you are. I use mail.bellsouth.net as the server name for both the incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server. POP-3 and SMTP are not valid server names. | | Re: receiving mail You should always use the server name rather than its IP address, except for a short term test. If the name does not resolve, there is something wrong with your DNS setup. -- Gary VanderMolen [MS-MVP WLM] "giantsrfun" <kfordakf@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:5D23537E-BAD4-4D5E-BF39-EC87FCFF75AB@xxxxxx Quote: >I have been experiencing a similar problem, since starting to use Vista - except that I could not connect to my ISP Mail Server. > I had the POP-3 and SMTP dns names in the Account setup - just like I have setup Outlook, Outlook Express on W2K & XP for years. > Today, I configured it with the IP Adresses of those mail servers and it worked fine. | Vista Home Premium 32 bit | Re: receiving mail I am having the same problem with receiving email using the Windows Email program in Vista. Each time I try to receive my email I get the following error message: Account: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19 I use Trend Micro anti-virus 2007 protection and tried turning off the virus protection to see if it would make a difference. It did not. I've used Outlook for years and have never experienced this much trouble setting up an email account. I worked with my service provider tech help and they sent me a test email that came through with no problem, but when I tried to receive messages off the server I continued to get the above error message. |

You might want to replace it with avast!, doing a custom install that leaves out the part that scans email: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html |
