Mail merge from Winmail ??????????

Trying to access Contacts in Windows Mail from Microsoft Word using Mail
Merge.

There is a default location [Outlook Contacts] pre-defined in Word but can't
find a route to Mail Contacts.

Anyone help ?

Thanks in advance.

No.
MS Office applications work with other MS Office applications, Windows Mail
is not an Office application.

Re: Mail merge from Winmail ??????????

Mac,

Thanks for your reply.

However, as I understand it, I should be able to access data through Word
Mail Merge from a variety of external databases, ODBC, OLE etc.

Is this not possible from Windows Mail.

Thanks again.

Andy B.

Re: Mail merge from Winmail ??????????

You're welcome.
Microsoft has limitations in its free email clients so as not to
diminish the market for Outlook.

Re: Mail merge from Winmail ??????????

Not directly, but you can export the contacts to a .csv file, which can then
be used.
According to my Outlook 2003 help, Word can use Outlook contacts, an Excel
worksheet, or text files for the data.

So you can export the Windows Mail contacts into a CSV file, which you
should be able to use.

Here is a tutorial..

Re: Mail merge from Winmail ??????????

Thanks Dave,

Excellent news, the tutorial will be helpful also but a quick test exporting
to CSV, converting to Excel and accessing through Mail Merge worked fine !

Thanks again.
