Re: New Bug...?

In Vista's Windows Mail or in Windows Live Mail or Windows Live Mail Desktop
beta? This is getting confusing Dilly, since we have all sorts of users
posting in this newsgroup, which the title would lead one to believe is for
problems only with Vista, but users are being pointed here for all the
programs mentioned.

If in Vista, how many messages are in the Deleted Items folder? Have you
tried deleting the Deleted Items folder from the Message Store folder with
Windows Mail shut down? Look in the Store folder under "Local Folders" and
see if you can find it or at least delete the contents (making sure that
Windows Mail is shut down).

Re: New Bug...?

That's strange, Dilly and a new one to me. Some users have reported "ghost"
messages appearing in folders, but I've not heard of any that could not be
deleted. And are you maybe confusing "identities" with "user accounts?"
There are no identities in Windows Mail in Vista and we wish we still had
that feature but MS decided otherwise.

And, if you look at the headers of this reply, you'll note there is a newer
build of Windows Mail (v. 5472). I don't see a similar problem in this
build.

Re: New Bug...?

Easiest backup would be to open the local folders you want to save in
Windows Mail, select all the messages in the folder, and drag/drop them into
Windows Explorer folders you create with names that make sense to you. Then
on the setup you wish to import them into, (say on XP/Outlook Express) just
open the mail folder with the Preview Pane enabled and drag/drop all the
messages from an Explorer windows into the Preview Pane of the Outlook
Express local folder you wish to copy them to. Takes longer to type up how
to do it than to just "do it." Should work without a problem, but keep us
posted. Luck.

Re: New Bug...?

All the messages are eml files, so just copy all the files from the store
directory to another one. Then you can drag them back into WinMail or OE
folders. Message store location is found via Tools | Options | Advanced |
Maintenance | Store Folder.

Re: New Bug...?

You're just a bundle of good news today, Dilly. How's the heat wave in New
England? Maybe that's why the A's had such success; they just came from a
hotbox here in the Bay Area. <G> 104 yesterday with about the same for
today.

People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did, but
people will never forget how you made them feel.
