export WLM emails to Outlook?

I've decided to use Outlook instead of what I have been using for a couple
of weeks, Windows Live Mail. (I'm in Vista.)

I want to transfer all my emails received during the Windows Live Mail
period to my Outlook account.

I've exported them from Windows Live Mail.

The question is, where did I export them to? At the conclusion of the
export, all I got was a message saying I'd successfully exported them. It
didn't say where they were, now that I was ready to import them into
Outlook.

I can't figure where I'm supposed to import them into Outlook from.

Re: export WLM emails to Outlook?

I have a different kind of problem. I'm also trying to move from WLM
to Outlook. Problem is, I get a

"
Windows Live Mail was unable to export all of your messages.

Your disk may not have enough space for all the exported messages, or
some of the messages you're exporting may be corrupted. Run Disk
Cleanup or delete some files, then try to export your messages again.
"

I've made sure that the amount of free space is larger than all the
WLM files put together. I've tried exporting an empty folder just to
see if the message is actually being triggered by corrupted data
(apparently not).

So does anyone have any idea what's going on?

Help...

Re: export WLM emails to Outlook?

What version of Outlook are you using? How large is your .PST file?

Re: export WLM emails to Outlook?

It's Outlook 2000 and the .pst file is about 1.5GB which, is funny
because there's almost no information in there...only a few hundred
contacts. No messages or anything...contacts don't take up that much
space do they?

Anyway, I don't know how big it should be because I haven't managed to
export my WLM messages to my Outlook yet.

Re: export WLM emails to Outlook?

I doubt if version 2000 of Outlook runs well under Vista. Even
version 2002 has some problems under Vista. Versions 2003 and
more recent run well, though.

Re: export WLM emails to Outlook?

All versions of Outlook prior to 2003 used ANSI format .PST (Personal
Folders) files which have a size limit on the order of 1.6 GB. You are VERY
close to that limit. If you use the Journal, delete any unneeded files,
make sure you've emptied Deleted Items, and try compacting the folder. If
that doesn't work, create a new .PST file and use copy and paste to move
data from the old file to the new one. Note that Outlook 2000 has
compatibility issues under Vista.

Re: export WLM emails to Outlook?

I've got another question. I tried exporting from WLM to Outlook 2007 in 'exchange format'. Everything looks alright. The only thing is that I've noticed that I can't get the messages from my inbox and sent items to go over...not even if I move them to a different folder...this leads me to suspect that the other folders in my storage may also be missing messages...I wonder if there might be a remedy for this?

Also, does 2007 also have the same 1.6GB max. file-size? Is everything good as long as I compact the .PST file (does this make old .PST's into new-format .PST's btw?)? Outlook seems to run more slowly than WLM...is this because of the .PST size?
