Vista - pop3 problems unable send or recieve mail

i'm using windows vista home basic and i cant work out how 2 use windows mail
i'm putting in all the right details (i'm a blueyonder/virgin media) user,
password, pop3, smtp etc but i keep getting this error

Account: 'POP3', Server: 'pop3.blueyonder.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR Protocol error.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:
0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91

i can't send or receive

That's a very unusual error message. I can't tell what the cause could be.
Make sure your settings agree with these instructions:
http://www.virginmedia.com/help/emai...etup_by_server

In particular, make sure you have not enabled the option "Log on using
Secure Password Authentication."

Note: You did not include a separate error message for send failure.
