WORD---PROSSER

I think I am in the wrong place, but cant find other board--
I am changing from Windows XP Home to Vista and I have about 100 files that
have .DOC as an extension and Documents in Vista are .WPS.
I have my .DOC files on a cd but cant get them in Vista.
What do I need to put then in Vista and be able to open them?.
I am 80 years old and slow learner --so any help ?

The reason that you 'Vista' files are .WPS is because you are using
Microsoft WORKS, not Microsoft OFFICE.

What you need to do is run Open Office, which will give you .DOC
compatibility..

Go to this website and download Open Office..

http://www.openoffice.org/

Then install it. If you want to maintain compatibility with MS Office, after
downloading and running Open Office, stop using Microsoft Works..

Good Luck
