You may then want to install a replacement antivirus program, such as avast! or AVG. Either one should get a custom install that tells it to leave out the part that scans email. http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/us/frt/0?prd=aff |

Incidentally, that error message looks like it came from Windows Live Mail (WLM). WLM questions should normally be posted to the WLM newsgroup. When the changes I made to the Account did not work - I set everything back to the default however in General it would not allow me to remove the name and email addresses. |

| | Re: The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the serve You must have hand-typed the error message and reformatted it. There is a distinct difference in the formatting style of an error message from WM compared to one from WLM. In general we don't recommend hand-typing an error message because invariably typos creep in. Windows Mail insists on having some sort of name and email address in the General properties screen of a news account. However, there is no requirement that the name or email address be genuine. In fact, one should never post in newsgroups with your real email address because it will get picked up by spammers. -- Gary VanderMolen, MS-MVP (Mail) "dkat" <dkat@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:26CF766F-EE5D-4C5D-A9D8-725A6E0AFE94@xxxxxx Quote: > > > "Gary VanderMolen" wrote: > Quote: >> The msnews.microsoft.com server does not use login. I deleted the news account and put it back in. At first it appeared that this fixed the problem but it hasn't. Some messages will download - others won'. and the message is always the same. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly terminated by the server.
