adding email accounts

I am having trouble adding an email account, I managed with help form our IT
guy to add my own from my server at the office but now I am trying to add
another one and it gives me the followiong error:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.shawmail.ca', Server:
'pop.shawmail.ed.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E.

Can anyone advise me what the problem might be. This is an account for my
boss who is out of the country until mid February and he wants me to stay on
top of his email. I would prefer to have it on my laptop. I do have it on my
phone so I know it works, but that can get costly.

I also got a disk with my new computer it says "Upgrade your windows vista
experience". Does anyone know what this is or what I am supposed to do with
it.

I apologize but I am not very computer literate and am just now trying to
catch up on all the latest technology.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
Audrey

Are the server settings that you used in Windows Mail the ones from your
phone?
I am not familiar with shawmail.ca, but try changing the POP3 server name to
pop.shawmail.ca
instead of 'pop.shawmail.ed.net'.

Re: adding email accounts

According to your ISP, the mail server name should be shawmail.ed.shawcable.net.
See http://www.shaw.ca/en-ca/CustomerCar...erverNames.htm
