If Windows Mail is on the list, click on it, then End Task and any approvals needed. If you used the standard install for avast!, it may help to uninstall it, then do a custom install where you tell it to leave out the part that scans email. http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html If that doesn't help, what other antivirus programs did you used to have? If they included either a Norton or a McAfee program, you may have to run the cleanup program for such a program: <http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039> <http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=107083&lc=4105&partner=McAfee&type=TS&ia=1> |

| vista ultimate | Re: Windows Mail could not be started I've had this problem and found a fix. I dont know if it will work for u but u can give it a whirl. I found that by logging on with a new account Windows Mail worked. So I must have installed or done something in my current profile that caused windows Mail to stop working. So I recreated a new account for myself. U will have to backup up your emails and remember the settings for your email account. Not sure how u do it with Windows Mail so u will have to do some research on that one. Backup your Desktop and Favourites. Data on the C: drive or any other drives will be retained so dont worry about backing those up if you dont want to. You wont have to reinstall your apps because your only deleting your profile not reinstalling windows. You don't want to get that drastic. Any local apps installed on your system that requires username and password u will have to remember those as well, so sort that out before you delet your profile. Delete your current account and recreate a new one. Log on with the new account and restore your data. Start Windows Mail and resore your Email account and emails. Good Luck... |
